Repair and tune up my bike
Permalink

Hi everyone,

I have just started to interest in cycling again.  I have few questions on repairing my bike and hope someone could answer them.

I have a bike that have not been used for 4 years.  The frame is still in good condition.  I would say the overall condition is fine, but it requires to tune up the gears and breaks before it can be used again.  As an amateur, I don't think major part need to be replaced besides some screws, wires, and tires.  Moreover, I am not planning to make it looks like a professional bicycle, but just use it as a tool to excerise and have fun.

Could anyone tell me how much should I expected I will be charged if I take it to a shop?

And, if you have suggestion on any finding good a shop that offer fair prices I could go? Preferably, in Shatin and Tai Wai area.

Thank you.

Carl

I am afraid most of us don't have such experience with the shops because we either know how to tune up our own bikes or could find some members who could help. Tuning gear and brakes, replacing cables and tyres etc. is pretty easy and should be learned because we often need to do so when doing long trips.

Some of our members do have good experience with ¦¨¥\ and ªL³¹ at Tai Po.

i just tried the shop very near our club premises (Fo Tan Tseun , somewhere between the Bus Terminus / Dai Pai Dong of the industrial area and the railway station) for tuning the bike (which belongs to the club) i planned to use for the trip for Wai Dong last week- i can only say: very good price, good guy, good service.
